Bioseon

Bioseon reads a living cell culture in real time and controls the bioreactor around it, so a batch of biologics lands on titer and inside spec.

Why we investedHealth / Seed 2025

What we saw in Bioseon.

A biologic is grown rather than made. Living cells sit in a bioreactor for two or three weeks while pH, oxygen, temperature and the nutrient feed are nudged by hand, and a small drift in any of them can cost a batch worth millions or quietly shift the protein into something a regulator will not accept.

Thomas ran production at a contract manufacturer and had watched the same three deviations repeat across four sites. Clara built the soft sensors that infer titer from spectroscopy instead of waiting two days on an offline assay. They had already run the approach on a real production train before they raised anything, which is rarer in this field than it sounds.

Regulated manufacturing is a slow place to sell software and we underwrote it that way. What convinced us was narrower than the vision. Bioseon senses the culture continuously and closes the loop on feed, which is the one thing every plant manager we called said they could not do today.

How Bioseon has moved.

2024

Founded in London by two engineers from the contract manufacturing side of biologics.

2025

Rifatela led the $2.5M seed. First GMP pilot live on a single production train.

2026

Two contract manufacturers running Bioseon on fed-batch lines, with purification in trial.

From a founder
“We were three months from a pilot and most investors wanted a regulator to sign something first. Priya asked what would break at scale instead, which turned out to be the more useful question.”
